DANCE STITCHERY - OUR STORY
With a competitive dancer in the house a lot of time has been dedicated to sequins and stitchery over the years. Mostly creating costumes for the fabulous company dancers from the DN Dance School in Edinburgh; or for the Dance School Showcases.
Ballet wrap skirts are an essential part of a dancer’s wardrobe and everyone wants to be a bit different, but still comfortable. With this in mind, we set out to source some beautiful, floaty fabrics that combined style and comfort.
Rose, the sparkly dancer who inspired the first skirts, chooses the fabrics and Barbara, or ‘Dance Mum B’ as she is also known, makes them in her home studio in Edinburgh. Each one is made with care, attention and quite a bit of love.
From a single skirt for a sparkly dancer, we are busy developing a range of skirts for sparkly dancers everywhere.
Our initial range of Floaty Florals was launched in Lockdown 2020 and we continue to add more as we find fantastic fabrics which we love. Where we can, we support our local businesses.
Dance Stitchery is small and independent. It allows us to offer a totally personalised service.
Thank you for your support.
